While restoring the haveli, top priority was given to retaining the original character and structure of the building. All new repair followed
traditional methods of indenting, replacing damaged stone with new in same material with same carving and refitting undamaged stone in its original location. The goal behind renovating this haveli was to engage traditional ways of construction with modern knowledge to
preserve the architectural heritage.

The idea to start a bed and breakfast started during the wedding of Vikram and Shubhi in 2006, when 45 people stayed overnight. There were many rooms that were not used and only served as storage space. Through vikram his trips to mountains, he stayed in many guest houses while hiking. "I liked this concept of staying at a family house. Because you learn about the culture more, because you are part of the family. And because you're doing and learning less touristy things."
